Using Images on Twitter to Gain More Followers
The success of businesses in promoting their brands and products to their audiences on Twitter has inspired more entrepreneurs to explore the platform. The number of Twitter users is growing every day and now exceeds more than 275 million with 80% being active on mobile. Twitter is no longer about putting your thoughts together in 140 characters.
According to blogger and social media expert, Jeff Bullas (@jeffbullas), sharing photos from a company or brand, is something that over 104 million active users do on Twitter. Over 107 million of these users comment on their friends' photos and videos. Over 171 million share their photos by uploading them from the computer. A side note - these statistics go back into the 2nd quarter of 2013; and this does not include the active Twitter users who use their mobile devices such as tablets and smart phones. Its compelling.
On the downside tweets including Instagram links are 42% less likely to be retweeted. Facebook image links are 47% less likely to be retweeted. This may be attributed to the fact that images from Instagram and Facebook show up on Twitter as links not photos. This means you can maximise your Twitter engagement by posting images directly from Twitter, instead of syncing these platforms to Twitter.
Maximise your Header Image on Twitter first

1. Behind-the-scenes look of your office, production or employee activities.
Using images on twitter posts
• Upload photos directly from Twitter.

• Choose your images wisely -
1. Choose images that convey emotion.
2. Change it up. Post different types of images such as infographics, banners, memes and photos.
3. Post good quality pictures. Use photo editing software available to you or hire a graphic artist to help you.

• You can now also tag people on your Tweets. You just select the photo you want to upload and tap, "Who's in this photo?" Twitter will then let you type in the names of the people you want to tag. How it will appear on your tweet is that, the tags will show next to your photo.
• The use of captions still remains to create a significant impact on your post. Yes, the photos will say a lot of the message you want to spread. The caption will create an emphasis. It will reaffirm what want to tell your audience.
• Make sure you post these photos at the right time. Fridays and weekends get more engagement. If your business is off on the weekends, make sure to schedule tweets and images ahead of time.
